Writing is amazing
I fell in love with the hobby of blogging primarily because of the IWCB folks. The fact that I know atleast a few people check out my what I write is rewarding in itself. As such I want to write more not because of validation but because I have all these thoughts rattling around inside my noggin and it's fun to put them down somewhere, and I want to inflict my thought process onto whomever is reading.
Shotgun System
My writing system is called the shotgun system by me. It is simply put banged out in a short burst and shipped for your eyeballs with mostly minimal edits because I write with my editorial eyes.
The reason I do this is because I am passionate about what I write about, but if I am staring at a blank page for more than 5 mins I will not magically write down my thoughts. In fact what is more likely is that whatever I am writing about and whatever my thoughts are about the topic have poofed away into the ether. I have a bad memory, sue me.
I might be opinionated but like most people writing down an essay explaining my opinions is something which induces an anxiety which cause what I will collioquially call "thought constipation" I know it's a crude term mostly made to make you laugh, again sue me for writing for an audience.
I had to delete 4 drafts yesterday for some old prompts which I partially wrote because I could not recapture what my brain felt while reading said prompt. The shotgun approach also has an advantage here, I am not married to ideas which might sound interesting because if I decided to sit down and write a magnum opus with my skills as they currently stand the only thing you will be receiving is jack and shit.
So the shotgun is used again, ideas I am not passionate about are taken to the back of the shed, shown a beautiful sunset and then the delete button is hit.
It's an aggressive way to write, kill your darlings and all.
Anecdotally though, I know that in the time I spend writing the blognum opus I could just write down 7-8 blogs which I have more fun writing and you might have some fun reading.
For me writing is a lot like stimming, i just write down my stream of consciousness. So in a lot of ways you are mainlining my brain.
Should you adopt this system
Yeah for sure. I think writing down blogs is fun, and for non technical opinion posts or even shitposts this approach is fun. The thing is that putting words onto the screen is the goal, and having fun is the reward. If this system lets you maximize having the fun of blogging about your life and the things which are happening around you, then by all means please take the shotgun and say "Hell yeah!"
Write more and have fun.
