Countdown begins
With two weeks left for the ultra and with a nice tapered cool ofd period it's time to evaluate the state of my sore muscles and knees.
My legs are sore, but it's nothing a good foam rolling can't fix, but my lower back is an issue I've been suffering since the last few months. That's definitely the next six month project I'm undertaking. There are still a few items I'm missing from my shopping list for race week which I'll do later.
Knees are much better than in December. The pain is between negligible and manageable. As such I'll be slowly building up the muscles around my knees to overcome the pain.
My shoulders are fine, no complaints.
Overall I can say that as long as I strech and do enough rehab work to keep up maintenance I should be golden this race week.
Work stress
It's always a treat to see how much stress a simple day job can cause. But I'll manage. Usually I'd blow off some steam by sparring but since my hiatus I only shadowbox and it's been fun to drill combos but there is nothing like a solid punch connecting with proper feedback.
Indie Web club meeting
This Saturday I had the privilege to hang out with the folks who run the local chapter of Indie Web Club, and I got to work on my personal website which I had been procrastinating in making for the last 3 years. I got the basics down but it needs a lot of work to kind of match what I am looking for. Although I made more progress in 2 hours than I did in 3 years because there are people around me also working on similar things so it's motivating.
First game of D&D
I've always wanted to play a D&D session in person, and I was finally able to this Sunday. It was a one shot adventure and it was a fun experience. I got to play as a Goliath Barbarian, stuck investigating a serial murder in a rainy seaside town. Since I am still new to this, our DM was kind enough to walk me and everyone else through the general flow of things. Our table was filled with newcomers and it was a fun time because everyone needed some time to get into the roleplaying aspect of the TTRPG, but by the end of the session everyone was comfortable. I will go again if I get another opportunity, because it's a good way to socialize with people.
