Somehow every conversation I have with people always seems to eventually lead to AI.
I am not a huge fan of the way closed source AI companies have gone about in training their AI models, or the fact that they have access to your prompts they are able to steal anything you work on.
I also see and understand the excitement people have. It's a weird time.
I had sort of a technical pre-screener online interview with a company who had me debug issues related to an AI wrapper they are supplying. The byline was that these are the types of production issues you will be working on. 5 issues, 6 mins per issue debugging AI slop code by using AI slop because we are meat proxies.
It made me feel a type of disdain for the money men who are so gung ho about using this technology, and also for how willingly our field accepted being code-cuckolds. This might seem like a rant, old man yelling at clouds or what not, but seriously this is what CS is going to be?
AI writes the code, AI reviews the code, AI suggests PR edits, AI merges the code, but the person liable is the human. Such non sense.
Now, I am not above the slop. It is useful to get velocity, but the promise of doing less work and having time for the important stuff has been a lie. Now the unrealistic expectations of being 10000X developer has arrived.
And the ones who are supplying this Slop Juice are laughing their way to the bank.
I use AI to do boring stuff which I don't want to do, like a concierge. I have apply to jobs for me, write Cover Letters that make it seem like I have drank the Kool-Aid, because so many people have.
So that's been my week, giving ai slop assessments for ai slop companies. Meh.
Besides that I was sick all week. I have had a little bit of a cold and cough. I haven't slept properly in 3 days either. I am just moving by drinking enough white monster to keep myself alert and awake.
Workouts are going fine but I've not been able to go spar because I don't want the other people i interact with to catch my cold.
My health improved by the weekend and I met a couple of my friends to enjoy some really good chicken in Bangalore at an underrated eatery which I intend to gatekeep and have it remain a hidden gem. Sometimes when you haven't eaten all day the best thing in the world is a hot chicken lollipop curry with thin chapatis , egg rice, chicken kababs and other items shared with friends and a laugh.
My niece is getting to be a chatterbox in the way one year olds are. Her constant babbling is a fun time because we all have our own opinions about what she's saying. She can communicate now, she calls dogs bow bow and says bye. It's interesting watching someone develop intelligence like this.
So good days and bad days are just happening and so goes another week.
