Why have a blog in the first place?
Honestly I need a place to put down my thoughts. I am interested in writing about what I have read, watched or listened to. It is difficult to put down words to paper, there is too much friction and my handwriting is bad.
I have an anxious feeling about the fact that for all the consumption of media I do, I am not sure how much of it I am retaining, or the bigger question which is it worth retaining in the first place?
Algorithmic feeds put me in a media bubble of topics which it decides, I don't get to see unique art, or media unless I am in that moment in one of these spaces decided for me by something which is essentially a black box.
This is why I want to be more intentional with my media diet, and have control over what I see or at the very least who is showing it to me.
Therefore one of the things I am interested in doing is write a blog about things I like, media I find interesting or enjoy, and write about them. I don't know if it will be a critique, or a glaze fest but I think writing helps me put down my thoughts and gives me some time to reflect which is important in being more intentional.
This will also let anyone who is interested in looking for recommendations or to find like minded individuals for discussions.
Why now?
The best time to have started was years ago, but the second best time is now. I was able to attend the indie web meetup and the kind folks there were helpful in making this process simple.
Mindset
Curating my own space, with my own thoughts. My thoughts need to get out of my head. I am not interested in seeking validation here because that creates pressure.
Random thoughts
Ran 27/33 km today. Unfortunately not in the best form but I can manage improving my mileage in the coming weeks.
